RIP OpenTable

When OpenTable first came out we were very enthusiastic supporters. It was a great idea and provided a great service to us as customers. We’d tell restaurants that, more and more, we chose where to eat using OpenTable. And we did. Most of our favorite restaurants signed up and they got more business from us and many others.

Now they’re all signing out, and so are we.

Apparently OpenTable have raised their fees so high that it’s no longer worth it. With more and more restaurants dropping out it’s also no longer worth it for us to use OpenTable as a primary source of where to eat.

R.I.P. OpenTable.  We’ll miss ya.

Like eveve, it doesn’t appear to have a customer side like opentable though. For me as a customer the advantage of opentable was being able to see ‘who has availability for 4 @ 8p’.

Curious to learn what you’re using as a replacement for your electronic reservations?

I think some of the restaurants are using Most of the time now we just go directly to the restaurants sites instead of opentable since more and more seem to be leaving opentable anyway. I liked opentable, but if some of the places we like to eat aren’t on there it looses it benefits.
